I am a good friend of David Thompson and read his book, “River of Memories” which I highly recommend. It brought back many memories of my own boyhood because my father’s family lived on Beech Fork near Racoon Creek and Bowen Creek and my mom’s lived in Lincoln County just a few miles from Salt Rock and over the hill from Bowen Creek. Family names mentioned in this article are very familiar. I was born in the 30′s, but too young to remember the school bus trips.
