Outdoor class at a one-room schoolhouse

Children at school in 1925 would have used an inkwell similar to the one shown here, from the collection of the Cherokee County [GA] Archives.

They armed themselves with wooden mauls to meet the meal man. He was unwilling to allow them an early portion. Aunt Sally drew her heavy maul.

Honored by the Library of Congress, chosen to participate in the Bicentennial Local Legacies Project, her works are in the Smithsonian.

The best archeological guess is that it was built between 500 B.C.-1500 A.D., with the highest probability that it was built around 500 A.D.
