Madison County, KY native Frances Estill Beauchamp spearheaded the late 19th century antiliquor crusade in Kentucky.

Verna Mae Slone (1914-2009) relates the story of how her father Isom ‘Kitteneye’ Slone proposed to her mother, Sarah Owens Slone.

Harpe brothers killed at least 40 men, women & children on the frontier until a posse caught up & took the leader’s head on Aug. 24, 1799.

Many times he was paid for the extra service with a pint of moonshine. But no one ever saw him drink this or any other form of alcohol.
