Where the Hillbilly Highway ends

After World War II, when factories such as General Motors were heavily recruiting, 7 million migrated north on the Hillbilly Highway.

On OU’s Appalachian Heritage Day, I wanted to informally share some Appalachian stereotype-associated things I’ve been thinking about.

Two other families came into the neighborhood. These got into trouble with each other; some neighbors took part with one, some with the other.

Traveling photographer Albert J. Ewing worked on a floating studio aboard the Water Queen showboat that cruised the Ohio River.

Canning cannot be valued monetarily, but can only be measured in the love of family, tradition, the land, and fresh, truly good, food.
