The Sandlick Sportman’s Club

Sandlick Sportman’s Club shows a different facet of the company town. The building served as a recreational retreat for company employees.

Torbett & Watson said when they reached the place where the money was found it looked like a flock of hens had been turned out on the hill.

It wasn’t too long until the mill had been built, and the first of Carter’s mills on Stony Creek was in business.

It was while trout fishing in the spring of 1938, in Big Stony Creek, that I first saw the old Carter Mill.

In 1944 the Cambridge Police Chief, Boston’s Police Commissioner, & the Boston Bookseller’s Association all joined to squash ‘Strange Fruit’.
