All our folks was farmers

Mrs. Riddle raises and sells vegetables, and keeps bees, but the real business of the family is raising beef cattle.

Where’d I go to school? WV, Pleasant Valley. Forest Home. One room. A pot-bellied stove in it. We carried wood to keep the fire going.

Large glass display cases held items of interest. One of the largest cases held box after box of penny candy that we loved to buy.

The term for bluegrass music derives from Bill Monroe’s band, assembled during the 1940’s, “Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys.”
