Fess Whitaker (1880-1927) began his career as a politician in 1917, when he was elected county jailer in Letcher County, KY.

Jenkins, KY didn’t come into existence by steady settlement over a period of years. Jenkins was planned & built by Consolidation Coal Company.

Dr. Marshall B. Taylor was hanged at Wise Courthouse, VA at 2:20 this afternoon, October 27, 1893, for the murder of the Mullins Family.
