Eddie said he was just keeping his pledge to Joe

Each morning Eddie got up and poured two glasses of schnaps, one for Joe and one for himself, and say “Here’s to you Joe.”

“Fulton Caldwell, now a prosperous farmer and a leading citizen, was born on the Caldwell homestead in 1833,” says his 1887 biography.

One of Noble County’s more baffling murder cases began on November 5, 1905, when the family of William Leisure found him shot dead.
