It has been a custom for more than twenty years to have trade days in Scottsboro on every first Monday in the month; this is also when Probate Court meets.

Welsh prince Madoc ab Owain Gwynedd sailed into what is now Mobile Bay, AL in 1170 A.D. and established forts along the Alabama River.
