Is the Kentucky long rifle misnamed?

What we call the ‘KY long rifle’ wasn’t always known that way. Rifled gun, hog rifle, PA long rifle were just a few of its earlier names.

Squirrel hunting was and is a passion, necessity (that may be more of a was), and a sport in the hills of Virginia and Kentucky.

His weekly column “Tales of the Tall Timbers” was read & enjoyed all over the country, & by servicemen worldwide during the 1940’s-50’s.
