The country is full of gold

This letter captures perfectly the gold fever that swept the region shortly after the yellow nuggets were discovered in Alaska’s Yukon.

The Dahlonega gold rush was the original, and it kicked off 21 years before the California event we usually associate with that phrase.

Benjamin Parks is said by some to be the person who discovered gold in Georgia in 1828, west of the Chestatee River in Lumpkin County.
