Wheat, TN disappears at the hands of the Manhattan Project

When the U.S. Army came to what is now Oak Ridge, TN in 1942 with the Manhattan Project, 1,000 families on 56,000 plus acres had to be moved.

Lewis ‘Hack’ Wilson had already led the National League in homers four out of the previous five years at the beginning of the 1930 season.

Sheriff Don Chafin ruled Logan, WV with iron fist till the late 20s. In 1921 he blocked protesting UMW workers trying to cross Blair Mountain.

When he died on July 5, 1922, his oldest child was 99 years old; his youngest only 7. None ever came close to John Shell in length of years.
