The Laurel Creek Murders, part 1

On September 21st, 1909, Howard Little allegedly came to visit Elizabeth E. Baker Justus and her extended family in Laurel Creek, VA.

On September 13, 1916 a five-ton circus elephant was executed, hung from a 100-ton Clinchfield railroad crane car, in the little town of Erwin, TN.

It wasn’t possible to return prisoners doing work in the most distant parts of Oconee County to the county jail at Walhalla every night.
