The Legend of Ruling Days

Call it Hillbilly Witchcraft. Call it White Magic. You may think it’s simply a load of malarkey. But Ruling Days have been round a long time.

The elders bloom upon the ground/And critters low and kneel around/In every stall, though none I know/Has seen them kneel, or heard them low.

Since you saved the Holy Family, from now on we’ll call you & all your kin the Holy Tree. But it’ll change from Holy tree to Holly tree.

I want to go back where all the common, everyday towels were made of salt sacks, where there was only one store towel, for the preacher’s use.
