The Jack Tales. Not just beanstalks.

You know “Jack & the Beanstalk.” There’s more where that came from! Jack Tales are part of a cycle of folk stories that revolve around–Jack.

His weekly column “Tales of the Tall Timbers” was read & enjoyed all over the country, & by servicemen worldwide during the 1940’s-50’s.

Throughout the 20th century it was common across eastern N. America. Today the warbler is America’s fastest declining migratory songbird.

It’s surprising how much old account books can tell about people & the times. Changes in attitudes, customs, & dress can be detected.

The song tells the tale of Nancy Brown, who throws over one suitor after another til she finds the man she’s been waiting for.
