Among the mementos of my youth is a silk hat mark. Ere then, ere then, upon it, in the long, long ago, her deft fingers wove my initials!

In two short years our house of cards had fallen. We were 6 orphans. The oldest 17 & youngest 3 years. Mother lies beside father on the hill.

The Appalachian League was born in 1911 with teams in Asheville, Bristol, VA; and in TN Cleveland, Johnson City, Knoxville, & Morristown.

Jordan and Augusta set up housekeeping 2 weeks after they got married in Longdale Furnace, VA (shown here) where they lived for 13 months.
